Detachment Mission:
Our Detachment
Marines are members of the Marine Corps League that join
together in fellowship for the purpose of preserving the
traditions and promoting the interests of the United
States Marine Corps. By bonding together those who are
now serving in the United States Marine Corps and those
who have served honorably from that service; voluntarily
aiding and rendering assistance to all Marines and former
Marines and to their families, by perpetuating the
history of the United States Marine Corps through fitting
acts to observe the anniversaries of historical occasions
of particular interest to Marines.
The Gung Ho Detachment #650 is directly affiliated with the Marines of 4th Division 3rd Battalion 25th Marines. Our mission as the mission of the Marine Corps League is to help our fellow "Marines" in any way possible. The Marines of 3/25 returned from Iraq in 2005 to a Hero's Welcome.

Detachment History:
The name of our detachment, "Gung Ho" which derived from the Chinese meaning "Work Together". Most detachments are named for locations they are situated; or deceased highly decorated Marines; famous Marine battles; or anything Marine. It was our charter members that wanted something unique and different from all the others in 1987. We wanted something to denote what we were and those that joined with us would become. The term Gung Ho was agreed upon by all and seem to fit our requirement for detachment membership. Since the name was unique, we would be also. Thence we became known as the "Gung Ho Marines".
